Built for any business people ask AI to recommend
Search used to give ten options. AI gives three.
More and more people skip Google and ask ChatGPT for a recommendation. It doesn't show pages of results. It names a few businesses and moves on.
Ten links, a map and ads. You had a shot even on page one.
ChatGPT
A short list of names. That's the whole answer.
If AI doesn't name you, that customer never knows you exist. And most businesses have no idea whether they're being named.

Questions about AI visibility, answered.
About AI visibility
AI visibility is how often AI assistants like ChatGPT and Gemini name your business when someone asks for a recommendation, such as "best dentist in Boston". Improving it is called generative engine optimization, or GEO. It works like SEO, but the goal is to be the business the AI recommends, not a blue link on a results page.
Yes, and fast. 45% of consumers used AI to find a local business in the past year, up from 6% the year before, and 63% of those people trust what it recommends (BrightLocal, 2026). Visitors who arrive from AI search also convert at about 4.4 times the rate of a regular Google visitor (Semrush, 2025).
ChatGPT searches the web live, largely through Bing, then summarizes what it finds. It leans on your Bing Places listing, your own website, review and directory sites like Yelp, Tripadvisor and Facebook, and local "best of" articles. Businesses with consistent details, recent reviews and clear descriptions of their services get named most often.
Gemini is built by Google, so it relies heavily on your Google Business Profile, Google Maps data and Google reviews, plus Google search results. A business can do well in one and be missing from the other, which is why FoxHound checks each assistant and scores them separately.
Perplexity is an AI search engine that answers with sources listed underneath, so it leans on review sites, local articles and your own website. It's included in the Tracker, Growth and Done for you plans alongside ChatGPT and Gemini. The free scan covers ChatGPT and Gemini.
SEO aims to rank a page in a list of search results. GEO aims to get your business named inside an AI's answer, which usually lists only 3 to 5 businesses. The foundations overlap (accurate listings, reviews, a clear website), but GEO puts more weight on being mentioned by trusted third-party sources and on describing exactly what you offer and where.
Your score is the share of real customer questions where AI recommends you. Across the market the bar is low: ChatGPT recommends only about 1.2% of local business locations (SOCi, 2026). In our scans so far, scoring above 34% puts you ahead of most of your category, and above 67% usually means you're a top pick.
Usually because it can't find enough recent, consistent information about you: fewer or older reviews, incomplete Google or Bing listings, a website that doesn't clearly say what you offer and where, or no mentions on the local "best of" lists AI reads.
Listing and website fixes can show up within a few weeks, as AI assistants re-read the web. Reviews and third-party mentions build over one to three months. We track your score monthly (weekly on Growth) so you can see what's working. Every business and market is different, so timelines vary and results aren't guaranteed.
Yes. Every free scan comes with a fix plan listing the specific directories, listings and pages to update for your business. The Tracker plan adds monthly re-checks, a structured-data code generator for your website and a short task list each month. If you'd rather not do it yourself, the Done for you plan handles it.
No. AI companies decide what their assistants recommend, and answers change over time, so no one can honestly guarantee a score, ranking or result. What we do is strengthen the signals AI relies on, show you exactly where you stand, and track your progress so you can see what's working.
How FoxHound AI works
You enter your business name, type and city. We ask ChatGPT and Gemini the questions real customers ask, with live web search turned on, and record who they recommend. The free scan asks 6 questions on ChatGPT and Gemini. Paid plans add Perplexity: Tracker asks 15 questions on each AI every month, and Growth asks 30 on each AI every week. Questions are tailored to your services and what makes you stand out, and mix everyday searches, comparisons ("alternatives to...") and different kinds of customers, like first-timers or people on a budget.
Very close. We ask each AI with live web search turned on, the same way they answer local questions in their apps. Individual people can see slightly different answers based on location and history, so we ask several questions and report the average.
Paid plans track ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity. Every report shows your score on each one separately, along with which competitors they recommend instead and the websites they cite. Google AI Overviews is coming soon.
Not always. AI assistants sometimes list an old phone number, wrong hours, or even say a business has closed. Paid plans ask each AI directly about your business, compare what it says with your real details, and flag anything wrong, along with how positively AI describes you and the themes it brings up.
Paid plans include a website AI-readiness check: whether AI crawlers are allowed in, whether your site has the structured data and clear service details AI looks for, and whether your name, address and phone match your listings. You get ready-to-paste FAQ answers and fixes.
Yes. Paid plans include a small tracking snippet for your website that counts visits from ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Copilot and other assistants, and the calls, emails and form submissions they lead to. We also give you a simple "How did you hear about us?" question to ask customers, since many people who find you through AI call or walk in without clicking a link.
If customers might ask an AI assistant to recommend a business like yours in their city, yes. Dentists, restaurants, contractors, law firms, salons, gyms, clinics and more. It also works for firms whose clients are spread across the country or overseas: paid plans can track your visibility across the US, the UK, Europe and other markets instead of one city. The free scan uses your own category and city, so you'll see your real picture in a minute.
Every paid plan includes a private dashboard you sign into with your email. It shows your score on each AI over time, your share of all recommendations compared with competitors, where you rank inside AI answers, scores for each service and standout feature, the sites AI cites, a task checklist, a check of whether AI gets your details right, a website AI-readiness audit, visits from AI assistants, and a projection of where your score and revenue are heading. Growth adds weekly data, competitor trend lines, every AI answer word for word, results by question type, draft outreach emails for sites that mention competitors, and email alerts.
Never. We don't write fake reviews, create fake accounts or post in communities on your behalf. We show you where AI is looking and how to earn real mentions there, because anything fake can get your listings penalized.
